Now to the meat (white or dark, your choice) of Thanksgiving Quotes!
-
“And they (turkeys) are a bird. A very nervous bird. You’d be nervous too if you knew that one day you’d get your head cut off and…filled with stuffing.” – Bob Saget, from the Huffington Post
- “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John Fitzgerald Kennedy
- “Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half times take about twelve minutes. This is not a coincidence.” – Erma Bombeck
- “We should just be thankful for being together. I think that’s what they mean by ‘Thanksgiving’, Charlie Brown.” – From A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
- “Thanksgiving has become a day when Americans extend a hand to the less fortunate. Long before there was a government welfare program, this spirit of voluntary giving was ingrained in the American character. It should be a day of giving as well as thanks.” – Ronald Reagan.
- “Thanksgiving is not an anachronism whose time has passed. It is much more than a holiday to celebrate a meal shared between the Pilgrims and Native Americans. It is a time to reflect and be thankful for what we have – not for what we cherish, desire, or envy.” – Ted Nugent. (That’s right, the Great White Buffalo!)
- “And lord, we’re especially thankful for nuclear power, the cleanest safest energy source there is. Except for solar, which is just a pipe dream. Anyway, we’d like to thank you for the occasional moments of peace and love our family’s experienced. Well, not today, you saw what happened! Oh Lord, be honest, are we the most pathetic family in the universe or what?” – Thanksgiving Prayer by Homer Simpson. (As if 7th Heaven is what families are like – admit it.)

A Different Side of Janet
Janet Jackson’s interview with Robin Roberts was both touching and heartbreaking. The Janet Jackson we saw in the interview was the same beautiful woman we’ve known all these years, but there was clearly something different about her. She wore her big beautiful smile yet her eyes frowned with great sorrow.
Though shy and soft spoken like Michael, we know Janet as a thrilling entertainer, turbulent and powerful onstage. Today we see only heartache, pain and sorrow that have become so evident, visible through her conjured up smile.
“I have this thing when I tend to smile when things kinda get real painful,” said Janet in the interview. “I guess that’s just my protective shield.”
Sharing Memories
In her ABC interview with Robin Roberts, which aired on Wednesday, Nov. 18, Janet Jackson shared the memories she had of her brother, the closest person to her growing up. She recalled the tragic hours, days and weeks following the death of Michael Jackson.
Janet Jackson admits that she and her family tried numerous times to intervene and help Michael, but was unsuccessful every time. “You can lead them to water, but you can’t force them to drink,” she said. “It’s up to them to take control.”
When asked what she missed most about Michael, she said, “For me, his silliness. His love. How much fun we use to have together. We would practically do everything together. Every morning till night. Every day.”
Michael Jackson, the legendary King of Pop, passed away on June 25, 2009. He died at UCLA Medical Center of a cardiac arrest.
Janet also said that her 7-year relationship with boyfriend Jermaine Dupri ended shortly after Michael’s death.

Larry King definitely pulled a Dane Cook on Vanessa Hudgen, err, I meant former Miss California Carrie Prejean. As many of you know, Ms. Carrie Prejean has had her share of scandals this year. Prejean shocked the world when she nationally proclaimed that same-sex couples should not be allowed to marry.
Not long after that incident, Carrie Prejean was fired from her post as Miss California after missing publicity appearances. In retaliation, Prejean issued a lawsuit against the pageant for religious discrimination. She said she was actually fired over the statement she made about her beliefs on gay marriage. The case was settled out of court after the prosecution revealed that they had a copy of a sex tape featuring her. Now the beautiful, controversial Ms. Carrie Prejean is promoting a new book called Still Standing, and she definitely chose the right place to promote it: Larry King Live.
So this girl shows up on Larry King’s show thinking she was only there to promote her new memoir. Boy was she dead wrong. Larry basically said something like, ‘Can I just say what everybody in this room is thinking but nobody has said?’ He then called out Carrie Prejean on her lawsuit claims. Her response: “Larry you’re being inappropriate. You really are.”
Larry then moves on by answering a phone call from Detroit. Carrie Prejean proceeds to rip out her microphone and completely ignore Larry King and the person on the other end of the line. “I think you are being extremely inappropriate right now and I’m about to leave your show,” threatens Carrie Prejean. I mean the whole situation, particularly how she responded to the questions, was just downright petty.
